The 24-year-old Manchester born wordsmith Bugzy Malone is fast developing a reputation as one of the UK’s brightest independent Grime talents. Dubbed ‘The evil genius’, Bugzy has amassed a loyal fan base through his heartfelt lyrics and knock out delivery displayed in his music.
2015 has been an outstanding year for Bugzy, gaining plenty of attention and racking up over 20 million views on YouTube for his freestyles and raw music videos. He also won ‘Best Newcomer’ at the GRM Daily Rated Awards and was nominated for two Mobo Awards for ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Grime Act’.
In May 2015, Bugzy teamed up with Brit Award winner Tinie Tempah and Mobo Award winner Stormzy on the track ‘It’s Peak’ and the buzz continued as in July 2015 Bugzy released his first E.P ‘Walk With Me’, which peaked at No. 2 on the iTunes album chart and No. 8 on the Official Album Chart.
This December, Bugzy will embark on his first UK headline tour, with dates in London, Birmingham, Brighton, Sheffield and Manchester. He is also booked to perform alongside Bloc Party, Drenge and Rat Boy part of the NME Awards Tour 2016, which is a nationwide tour to promote established artists and hotly tipped newcomers. (The only other UK urban artists that have been asked to perform on this tour previously were Dizzee Rascal and Lethal Bizzle).
So with the overwhelming success of Bugzy’s new E.P ‘Walk With Me’ and with rapper Drake following his movements Bugzy Malone is definitely ‘one to watch’ for 2016.
