Izzie Gibbs is the newest sensation to hit the grime scene with a bang. Hailing from Northampton’s Thorpelands council estate, his witty wordplay and high energy delivery coupled with his abundance of talent have quickly made him into the most talked about youngster in the scene and he is already being earmarked as the next to blow.
He signed to Dice Recordings in October 2014 after impressing them with his performances as a support act on their BDL (Base Defence League) tour for Big Narstie, who he counts as one of the biggest influences on his career so far. Since then his career has gone from strength to strength.
His debut EP with Dice Recordings entitled “PROJECT X” was very well received, with songs such as “GET IT” receiving huge support from DJs the likes of Target, Mistajam, Cameo & Logan who made comments such as “Izzie Gibbs is one of the most exciting artists to enter the grime scene for a long while, the impact he has made reminds me a little of Dizzee Rascal back in the day”.
This success was built on with the 2016 release of his latest EP, “JUTSU”, featuring songs such as “MANDEM”,which was premiered by Charlie Sloth on Radio 1 and became a firm favourite among his fans. He was brought out on stage with Stormzy at Detonate festival, and went on to win “Best Newcomer” at the 2016 Urban Music Awards. The hype surrounding Izzie reached a new level when he teamed up with labelmate Big Narstie on Jutsu with the song “My Life”, the video for which has now received over 800,000 views. His freestyles Road Rage 2 and Mad about bars have further built up his reputation as one to watch. With his idiosyncratic style and overwhelming charisma, Izzie Gibbs is undoubtedly a rising star in the making.
His upcoming EP “YIN YANG” is going up for pre-order on 22 March, and with features from Donaeo, Young T & Bugsey, Big Narstie and Tremz, Izzie has put together hit after hit. In the last 2 weeks alone Izzie has released 2 freestyles, his Daily Duppy and Spitfire P3, performed alongside Stormzy, Jaykae and Dapz on the Map on the Grime show, featured on Kamakaze’s Pull up remix, and been named by Stormzy on Kiss FM as the one to watch, raising the bar for being active in the scene.
