Meet Miraa May, the 21 year-old North London native, who’s intriguing personality and equally distinctive voice is a breath of a fresh air in today’s modern society.

Born in Algeria and raised in Tottenham, Miraa came to the UK as a young child with her parents, and quickly settled into life in N15. Growing up she gained a passion for music and all things creative.

Fast-forward to 2014, Miraa May released her long-awaited debut EP, ‘The Beginning’ which built her an incredible fan-base almost over night. With a silky plethora of breathy vocals swimming throughout, the R&B-soul infused EP dubbed Miraa as the UK’s answer to Jhene Aiko.

Miraa May began showcasing her raw and personable vocals on the live circuit including performing at showcases at Kensington Roof Top Gardens, Tate Modern and Southbank. Amongst performing to newly built fan base of girls and guys growing up in and around Tottenham, Miraa caught the attention of award winning producer Salaam Remi (The Fugees, Nas, Amy Winehouse, Ms Dynamite) who instantly took a liking to her feisty and passionate personality and voice. The Grammy-award producer has been known to work with singers in London and to create a sound that translates to a multitude of audiences.

Flying out of the UK for the first time in her life to meet Salaam Remi in Miami, he wanted to push Miraa to connect with music in a new and different environment, the answer was N15; the first project to come from the collaboration released via Salaam’s ‘Do It For The Culture; promotion on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play.

The 6-track EP shows the Tottenham songstress adjusting her style to the different musical productions from Salaam and producer James Poysner, and has received huge support of late from BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Huw Stephens, Trevor Nelson, Mista Jam and more. N15 remains many people’s disc changer in their cars as they drive through the streets of London. Never one to hold back on what she feels needs to be said or heard, Miraa May remains loyal to the concrete of N15. She’s an extremely honest, righteous, passionate and loving singer-songwriter with the ability to touch people with her sound.

Ready to make her mark on the industry and leave tastemaker sites yearning for more, Miraa May’s N15 is just the beginning of an exciting, refreshing and unique career in 2017.
